Between February and August 2025, the Hardi Cultural Center (HCC) organized and led a six-month bi-weekly women’s writing course that provided a supportive and creative environment for emerging female writers to explore poetry, short stories, and biographical writing. The workshop was conceptualized and facilitated by Dr. Choman Hardi, who guided participants through a structured program of reading, reflection, and creative practice. Throughout the program, around 18 participants took part in the sessions, with 12 remaining until the end. Together, they developed their literary and storytelling skills, gained confidence in self-expression, and built a sense of solidarity and community through shared reflection and dialogue. As part of the program, participants examined how Kurdish male authors represent women in their writing, contrasting these portrayals with how women depict their own experiences and identities. The group also engaged with works by international authors that explore women’s lives, including themes of childhood trauma, love, relationships, and social roles, fostering a deeper understanding of literary perspectives and women’s narratives across cultures.
