We believe that the pursuit of creativity is not only a universal need, but also has the potential to transform our communities in positive ways. Creativity offers an opportunity to reject the status quo and to imagine new realities that surpass prevailing injustices. The arts have the potential to make comprehensible that which seems incomprehensible, rebuild connections, facilitate understanding and empathy, and create consensus. Even in its least political forms, imaginative arts have the potential to bring pleasure and beauty into the lives of communities ripped apart by conflict.
Through short- and long-term residencies, Hardi Cultural Center offers an inspiring and distraction-free space to national and international writers, musicians, artists, sculptors, actors, and directors to take time off, recharge, and engage in their craft. It provides accommodation, office space, artist’s studio, recording studio, and high-speed internet as well as optional engagements with the larger community, hiking opportunities, and guided historical tours. Interviews are conducted with resident artists, and they donate an artwork to the center.
